What does Etsy take at different Australian sale prices?

Because most fees are percentages but the listing fee and the fixed part of processing are flat, the effective rate shrinks as the order grows. GST at 10% is applied to the fee subtotal and included below. Examples assume free shipping and no Offsite Ads.

Sale priceListingTransaction (6.5%)ProcessingTotal Etsy takes (incl. GST)Effective %
$15.00$0.30$0.98$0.70$2.1714.5%
$38.00$0.30$2.47$1.39$4.5812.0%
$76.00$0.30$4.94$2.53$8.5511.2%
$150.00$0.30$9.75$4.75$16.2810.9%

Shipping you charge the buyer is part of the order total, so an A$30 item with A$6 shipping is calculated on A$36, not A$30. The calculator above handles that automatically.

Which Etsy fee do Australian sellers underestimate most?

GST on fees. It never appears in US-focused advice, yet it adds a tenth to every Etsy fee you pay. A fee stack that looks like 9.5% is really about 10.5% after GST, and that gap is pure margin.

Second is the Offsite Ads fee, because it is invisible until it hits: any order within 30 days of an ad click carries an extra 12% or 15% plus GST. Use the toggle above to stress-test: if your price only works at 0%, one ad order can wipe out the sale.

Etsy Australia fee questions, answered straight

What fees does Etsy charge Australian sellers in 2026?
Four charges: a $0.20 USD listing fee per item (about A$0.30), a 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping, payment processing of 3% + A$0.25, and 10% GST on all of those. A fifth charge of 12% or 15% applies only to orders that come through Etsy's Offsite Ads.
How much are Etsy fees on an A$30 item in Australia?
On an A$30 sale with free shipping: listing about A$0.30, transaction A$1.95, processing A$1.15, then 10% GST on the A$3.40 subtotal (A$0.34). Etsy takes about A$3.74 in total, roughly 12.5%. If the buyer arrived through an Offsite Ad, add another A$3.60 plus GST at the 12% rate.
Does the 6.5% transaction fee apply to shipping?
Yes. Etsy charges the 6.5% transaction fee on the full order amount, which includes shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer. The 3% processing percentage applies to it too. This is the detail most fee calculators get wrong.
What is the difference between the listing fee and the transaction fee?
The listing fee is a flat $0.20 USD (about A$0.30) charged when you publish or renew a listing, and again each time the item sells. The transaction fee is 6.5% of the order total, charged only when a sale happens. You pay both on every sale.
When does Etsy charge the Offsite Ads fee?
Only when a sale is attributed to Etsy's Offsite Ads: a buyer clicks an ad Etsy placed for your listing on Google or a partner site, then buys within 30 days. The fee is 12% of the order total for shops that made over $10,000 USD in the past year (required participation), or 15% for smaller shops that opted in voluntarily, plus GST either way.
Are there any monthly fees to sell on Etsy Australia?
No. A standard Etsy shop has no subscription cost; you only pay per-sale fees plus the listing fee. Etsy Plus, an optional plan with listing credits, is not required to sell.
