What does Etsy take at different Canadian sale prices?

Because most fees are percentages but the listing fee and processing fixed fee are flat, the effective rate shrinks as the order grows. GST at 5% is applied to the fee subtotal and included below. Examples assume free shipping and no Offsite Ads.

Sale priceListingTransaction (6.5%)ProcessingTotal Etsy takes (incl. GST)Effective %
$13.50$0.27$0.88$0.66$2.0615.2%

$135.00$0.27$8.78$4.30$15.6411.6%

Shipping you charge the buyer is part of the order total, so a C$34 item with C$6 shipping is calculated on C$40, not C$34. The calculator above handles that automatically.

Which Etsy fee do Canadian sellers underestimate most?

The regulatory operating fee. At 1.15% of every order it is easy to miss on the payment screen, but over a year it quietly takes over one percent of your revenue. It is in every calculation on this page.

Second is the Offsite Ads fee, because it is invisible until it hits: any order within 30 days of an ad click carries an extra 12% or 15%. Use the toggle above to stress-test: if your price only works at 0%, one ad order can wipe out the sale.

Etsy Canada fee questions, answered straight

What fees does Etsy charge Canadian sellers in 2026?
Five charges: a $0.20 USD listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping, payment processing of 3% + C$0.25, a 1.15% regulatory operating fee, and GST/HST on all of those. A sixth fee of 12% or 15% applies only to orders that come through Etsy's Offsite Ads.
How much are Etsy fees on a C$35 item in Canada?
On a C$35 sale with free shipping: listing about C$0.27, transaction C$2.28, processing C$1.30, regulatory C$0.40, then 5% GST on the C$4.25 subtotal (C$0.21). Etsy takes about C$4.46 in total, roughly 12.8%. Through an Offsite Ad, add another C$4.20 at the 12% rate.
Does the 6.5% transaction fee apply to shipping?
Yes. Etsy charges the 6.5% transaction fee on the full order amount, which includes shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer. The 3% processing percentage and 1.15% regulatory fee apply to it too.
What is the difference between the listing fee and the transaction fee?
The listing fee is a flat $0.20 USD charged when you publish or renew a listing, and again each time the item sells. The transaction fee is 6.5% of the order total, charged only when a sale happens. You pay both on every sale.
When does Etsy charge the Offsite Ads fee?
Only when a sale is attributed to Etsy's Offsite Ads: a buyer clicks an ad Etsy placed for your listing, then buys within 30 days. The fee is 12% of the order total for shops over $10,000 USD a year (required), or 15% for smaller shops that opted in.
Are there any monthly fees to sell on Etsy Canada?
No. A standard Etsy shop has no subscription cost; you only pay per-sale fees plus the listing fee. Etsy Plus, an optional plan with listing credits, is not required to sell.
