What does Etsy take at different sale prices?

Because two of the three fees are percentages and two are fixed, the effective rate shrinks as the order grows. On small items the $0.45 in fixed fees bites hardest. Examples below assume free shipping and no Offsite Ads.

Which Etsy fee do sellers underestimate most?

The Offsite Ads fee, because it is invisible until it hits. Etsy advertises listings across Google and partner sites without asking per-campaign permission. Any order within 30 days of an ad click carries an extra 12% (shops over $10,000/year, participation required) or 15% (smaller shops that opted in). You cannot tell from the order screen whether it applied; only the fee breakdown in your payment account shows it.

What fees does Etsy charge sellers in 2026?
Three fees on every order: a $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus the shipping you charge, and payment processing of 3% + $0.25 for US shops. A fourth fee of 12% or 15% applies only to orders that come through Etsy's Offsite Ads. Together the standard three take about 9.5% of the order plus $0.45.
How much are Etsy fees on a $25 item?
On a $25 sale with free shipping, Etsy takes about $2.83, roughly 11.3% of the sale. That is $0.20 listing, $1.63 transaction (6.5% of $25), and $1.00 processing (3% of $25 plus $0.25). If the buyer arrived through an Offsite Ad, add another $3.00 at the 12% rate.
Does the 6.5% transaction fee apply to shipping?
Yes. Etsy charges the 6.5% transaction fee on the full order amount, which includes shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer. It also applies to the item price in the listing currency. This is the detail most fee calculators get wrong.
What is the difference between the listing fee and the transaction fee?
The listing fee is a flat $0.20 charged when you publish or renew a listing, and again each time the item sells (auto-renew). The transaction fee is 6.5% of the order total and is charged only when a sale happens. You pay both on every sale of a listed item.
When does Etsy charge the Offsite Ads fee?
Only when a sale is attributed to Etsy's Offsite Ads: a buyer clicks an ad Etsy placed for your listing on Google or a partner site, then buys within 30 days. The fee is 12% of the order total for shops that made over $10,000 in the past year (required participation), or 15% for smaller shops that opted in voluntarily. Orders that find you any other way pay nothing extra.
Are there any monthly fees to sell on Etsy?
No. A standard Etsy shop has no subscription cost; you only pay per-sale fees plus $0.20 per listing. Etsy Plus, an optional $10/month plan with listing credits and shop customization, is not required to sell, and Pattern (a standalone website builder) is a separate $15/month product.
