Fee assumptions
Use a buyer-tax amount OR rate, never both. The rate scales with price and shipping; a fixed amount stays unchanged in price scenarios. Seller tax is deducted from tax-inclusive revenue. Use costs net of recoverable tax.
Fee tax is a uniform estimate on all modelled fees. Actual taxable fee categories and tax registration can change the amount; reconcile to your Etsy invoice.

Start with the item price plus shipping paid by the customer. Deduct Etsy fees, Printify production and fulfilment shipping, plus any supplier tax or extras you include in costs. The Printify profit calculator keeps marketplace deductions and provider charges separate so the Etsy payout is not mistaken for profit.
Regional assumptions: UK
UK defaults use GBP, 4% + £0.20 payment processing and a 0.48% regulatory operating fee. The 20% fee-tax setting is an assumption for the estimated Etsy charges. Change it to match your invoice; it does not calculate VAT you remit on your own sales.
Use a GBP equivalent of the selected provider quote, rather than entering a USD catalogue amount unchanged. Compare a UK destination and overseas destination separately. The store's UK payment-processing schedule and the provider's fulfilment location are different inputs.
Order revenue − Etsy fees − entered costs = estimated profit. Margin = estimated profit ÷ order revenue × 100.
Trace the Etsy payment and the Printify bill
The illustrative order below shows why two records matter. Etsy handles the customer payment and its seller fees; Printify charges fulfilment through your Printify balance or payment method. The apparent Etsy remainder still has to cover that separate provider bill.

Compare delivered costs in the Printify profit calculator
Choose the product, size, colour and print areas before comparing providers. Then use the same delivery destination and service for both quotes. A lower production figure does not establish the lower total fulfilment cost when postage, extras or taxes differ.

A cheaper base product can leave less profit
Compare two hypothetical quotes after converting them to GBP: provider A charges £7.11 production plus £5.53 delivery; provider B charges £8.69 plus £3.56. Delivered totals are £12.64 and £12.25. With the same Etsy inputs, B leaves £0.39 more contribution. Use your actual conversion basis and supplier quote; these are not current catalogue prices.
Check the offer beyond cost too: product specification, print placement and delivery expectations must be comparable. This arithmetic does not rate provider quality or claim those amounts are currently available in the catalogue.
Calculate a subscription's break-even volume
If a hypothetical plan costs £23.70 per month and saves £1.58 on each eligible order, 15 orders cover it before other differences. At eight orders, its allocation is £2.96 per order. Compare the actual plan charge and variant savings on a consistent GBP basis.
A discount on production does not automatically apply to shipping, taxes or every variant. Enter the discounted production quote in the tool, then allocate the monthly plan cost separately so it is not omitted or deducted twice.
Price destinations and variants separately
A domestic T-shirt order and an overseas hoodie order are different cost cases. Save the actual production and shipping amounts for each important combination, and test the variants with the highest fulfilment cost. A single optimistic preset can hide losses on larger sizes or more expensive routes.
If orders are rerouted or substitutions are enabled in your provider workflow, compare the resulting actual charge with the amount used in pricing. Do not assume a published listing price changes automatically whenever fulfilment costs change.
Plan for the gap between billing and payout
Order profit can be positive while available cash is temporarily short. A provider charge and an Etsy deposit do not have to occur on the same day, and account reserves or adjustments can affect the deposit. Track the funds needed to fulfil orders separately from the profit calculation.
Keep an allowance for customer-service costs, replacements and non-recoverable taxes based on your own experience. For an order routed through another provider platform, use the Printful profit calculator with that platform's actual quote rather than reusing a Printify preset.
